Beta Test #gaymers Book 2 edition by Annabeth Albert Romance eBooks
Beta Test is the second book in the #gaymers series by Annabeth Albert. While this is a series the books could be read as stand-alones. The characters from the previous book are mentioned but are only a small part of the current book.Ravi and Tristan both start new jobs with the same gaming company, but they're both very different. Ravi is a outgoing, slightly disorganized but brilliant graphic designer. Tristan is a introverted, lives by spreadsheets and lists for everything, and is on the back end as a part of the marketing team. Tristan however is hiding his inner gamer geek from everyone. While on the surface it appears that these two are very different underneath all the bravado and hiding they have a lot of the same issues they deal with through the story.
At work these two are frenemies while they work on the same special team together. Then they get stuck having to road trip their project booth to a gaming convention. That trip is a bit of an eye opener for both of them. They learn they might actually like each other and that they are both dealing with family drama. It impacts them though in very different ways.
Ravi embraces who he is, he loves his job, loves dressing to fit his personality, and handles his sexuality well. His very traditional Hindu family, in particular mom and grandma want to believe that being gay is a phase or that they can find the right girl to introduce him to and that will change Ravi. Tristan's family is very conservative and wants him to hide who he is, they'll 'allow' him to be gay but he must be discreet and keep everything quiet. This just causes Tristan to not want to involve anyone in his life and he keeps everyone at a distance.
I loved that these characters are multifaceted. Tristan hiding that he's a gamer geek until a LAN party with his co-workers one night was awesome. I loved the confidence boost that it gave him. That he and Ravi were total opposites that you wouldn't expect to end up with each other was a sweet and sexy twist in the story. They ended up working well because each had something in their personality that the other one needed. The drama with their families really did shape their story in a lot of ways. Tristan telling his family off was one of the highlights of the book, so was his and Ravi's relationship finally being out in the open. I have to say the first kiss between these two is so freaking HOT!!
This series is pure fun for this reader. I'm a long time MMORPG gamer grrrl, and have friends that are programmers so these stories are lots of gamer geekdom crammed into a sexy m/m romance. I can't encourage you to read this series enough. I think it's a well written, fun yet serious and sexy romance series. The characters are complex and show growth throughout the book, and the story is engrossing and perfectly paced.
So if you haven't read the #gaymers series yet, you need to dash out and grab the first two books right now and read them!

Beta Test #gaymers Book 2 edition by Annabeth Albert Romance eBooks Reviews
Ravi and Tristan are super adorable in this workplace romance that manages to take them from workplace nemeses to friends to lovers as they go on a work road trip together. Love the progression that’s executed seamlessly by the talented author. I can’t decide which pairing I love the most in this super adorable series.
SWEET, FUN, AND SEXY!
Yup, am officially hooked on this series! Beta Test, was just as good as Status Update! Ravi, and Tristan are so good together! They had me feeling all the feels! The story line was fun, yet deep, and it had me hooked from the very first page! I ended up reading the whole book in just one afternoon. Annabeth is one of my favorite M/M authors, and I cant recommend this series enough! If you haven't started #gaymers I highly recommend! You wont be able to put these books down!
I enjoyed these characters very much, and the author's research was revealed in good ways. I never felt the emotional struggles were out of place, though some of the time transitions were frustrating. (Maybe I'm just nosy.) There is a little more telling than showing, particularly telling me what a guy's thinking rather than showing me by what he's saying or doing, and that's why four rather than five stars. Really good. Almost perfect. )
I loved this book. The characters are complex and well-written. I loved both Tristan and Ravi. Both guys have tense relationships with their family and both refuse to date a coworker. They have disagreements and believe that they are complete opposites until an angry argument reveals Tristan's secret. Being forced to spend time together asked them to open their eyes and see the other without misperceptions getting in the way.
Such a great story. I highly recommend that you read this book and series.
Ravi and Tristan begin working for the same company on the same day. They are very different people, though. When circumstances force them together for a work project, the 'getting to know you process' is what the reader witnesses. I enjoyed that part of the story very much. Ravi (the artist) is free spirited and easy going. Tristian (the MBA marketing guy) has spreadsheets for everything and they are color coded. You can see tension coming because of this, but it's minor and slightly comical. It isn't until these two guys get closer and start talking about families, relationships, etc. that things really become problematic.
The main drama from this story is the family that each MC has left. Ravi's family has some very traditional Indian people who continue to encourage him to find the 'girl for him.' Uh, yeah. ) Tristian's family consists of a deceased brother and 2 hard driving, conservative parents who simply want Tristan to 'be discreet in all things.' Neither of these MCs feel they can satisify their families, and they also fear letting each other down while trying to navigate family relationships. THIS was the heart of the story, imo, and it was very well done.
I had a lot of fun with this one and I liked how it held my attention. Tristan and Ravi have a contentious relationship, and after a fight at a work get-together they end up having to make the drive from LA to Seattle for a gaming convention. During the road trip they get to know more about one another, becoming friends with a healthy dose of sexual tension that results in them deciding to use the convention as a chance to discreetly explore their chemistry. There’s a lot of them fighting the chemistry and development of romantic feelings because Ravi doesn’t want to date a coworker (and have potential work drama), and Tristan doesn’t feel like he can be open because of his parents.
Content warnings on page sex (including oral, frottage, anal), homomisia, alcohol consumption, mention of MC’s brother who died in DUI accident, grief undertones, unsupportive family members, family trying to set MCs up with women (despite knowing they’re gay).
Rep gay Gujarati/Indian male, gay white male
